Padre Pio Milestones
1887: May 25—born in Pietrelcina, Italy 1903: January—entered Capuchin Novitiate in Morcone 1910: August—ordained in Cathedral of Benevento 1918: September—received stigmata, which are the five wounds of Christ crucified. Padre Pio's stigmata bled for fifty years, until his death. He had other gifts, including bilocation, prophecy, and healing. 1947: May—inaugurated Home for the Relief of Suffering 1968: September 22—celebrated last Mass 1968: September 23—died 1997: December 18—proclaimed “Venerable” 1999: Beatification 2002: Canonization “I must admit, however, that I am happy even in the midst of these afflictions because almost every day our good Jesus also makes me taste great sweetness."
