BUS TRIP TO PEORIA IN 2009

The following information is for the SDP 37th Annual
Conference & Expo being held on June 16-20-2009

For the 2009 convention, Penns Woods Painters is looking to charter a
bus for the trip from here, Mechanicsburg/Harrisburg, PA to Peoria, IL.
It is anticipated that this trip will be 12 - 15 hours, base on meal
stops, and will be done in 1 day.

I don't know if you all have explored the logistics of a bus trip to
Peoria, but PWP is interested in learning if you and your members would
be interested in joining them in chartering this bus.  The PWP target
date for deciding to contract for this bus is December 15.
The bus that PWP is looking to charter is a 47 passenger bus.  At this point PWP is hopeful that 20-25
of their members will commit to attending this convention and traveling via this bus.
With 40 people on the bus the cost would be approximately $240.00 per person

If you or any of your members would be interested, please contact Jackie
Nowak, President, PWP at jlnowak@aol.com by December 15.  Jackie's
telephone number is 717-766-6079.

Let's see if we can  help each other get to Peoria.

TIPS AND HINTS

To eliminate any paint splattering after shaking up a bottle of acrylic paint, tap the bottom of the bottle on the table before you open
  the lid.

A new way to use DecoArt Easy Float is to mix equal parts of water and Easy Float together and add a drop or two of this mixture to
your puddle of paint on your palette.  The strokes almost paint themselves and the paint just glides on the surface.

When you find something in a magazine to paint and the patterns are stapled in the center and you have to remove them to access the pattern.  How do you reattach them? Here are a couple of ideas to help. 1. Staple a plastic bag with a closure on the inside of the cover and slip the pattern into the bag.  That way the pattern is always with the book.  2. Another solution is to use elastic cord.Cut a piece of cording the appropriate length and tie the two ends together in the middle of the book/magazine and then slide the insert underneath. No more staples or lost patterns.

How to resize a pattern
To reduce, divide the size it is by the size you want it to be.  For example, if
the pattern is 10 inches, and you want it to be six inches,  divide 10 by 6 and
you get .60 or 60%. Reproduce at 60% of the original. To enlarge, divide the
size you want it to be by the size it is.  If you want your 10" original to be
14" you divide 14 by 10 and get 1.40.  Enlarge at 140%.

One very important HINT,  if you are working with Extender and your paint
doesn't want to move, DO NOT ADD EXTRA EXTENDER.    Learn from my mistake,
it is like driving a car on BLACK ICE.  (B.J.& P.M.)

If you place  one copper penny in each of the four corners of
a wet palette it will keep mold from forming and eliminate odors.(A.T.)
